Ted Leo Releases Rapid Response EP

Published by Hugh Miller under Ted Leo

I was not pleased with the way journalists and protesters outside the recent Republican National Convention were treated. It appears that Ted Leo wasn’t thrilled either. Leo and his band entered a studio last week and recorded the songs that comprise a digital EP titled Rapid Response. Two of the songs are original compositions, including “Paranoia (Never Enough),” which is a direct response to the events that occurred at the RNC. “Mourning In America” is also a new track while “I Got Your Number” and “Nobody’s Driving” are covers of songs by Cock Sparrer and Amebix, two underground UK punk bands. The EP can currently be purchased for the low price of $4 through Touch & Go. All profits will be donated to Minneapolis’ Food Not Bombs and Democracy Now! in order to help pay for the legal fees of those who were arrested. Listeners also have the option of donating up to $20. Below you will find a streaming version of the excellent “Paranoia (Never Enough).” I urge you to purchase this EP because it is truly going towards an important cause. It can’t hurt that the EP is also very good. Ted sounds much more inspired here in comparison to 2007’s uneven Living With The Living. Leo will soon be headed on tour with Against Me and will appear at the Black Cat on October 8th.
