Six Years, $127 Million Dollars = Trouble

Ugh

Sorry Gilbert, you’re not worth that price tag. I hope you remember these words…

Sign Antawn first,” he said. “Then I’ll take a pay cut to keep the team intact.”

Take a pay cut?

“Yeah.”

Really?

“Yeah.”

How much?

“Depends on how much he wants.”

“Typical Gilbert,” Jamison said when told of Arenas’ plans. “He wants to make sure we keep everybody together and he’s letting everybody know he’s willing to make a sacrifice to do that.”

7/3/08: Arenas agrees to take $16 million less…better than nothing.

Who Should You Root For?

Published by Hugh Miller under Basketball

Now that your favorite team has most likely been eliminated (unless you are a tool and root for teams like North Carolina), who should you root for? The answer is Davidson. How can you not root for a team that is fronted by Stephen Curry? He looks like he’s 14, but he’s averaging 35 points per game in the tourney thus far. I didn’t pick them to beat Georgetown, but it wasn’t completely surprising. They have a great chance to beat Wisconsin and move on to the Elite Eight. I also believe that West Virginia could easily take down Xavier. I’ll root for local boy Scottie Reynolds and Villanova too, but the odds of them defeating Kansas are extremely low.

My bracket is in critical condition after Clemson, Drake, and Duke decided to suck. It did bring me great joy to see Duke lose though. For what it’s worth, I have Kansas, Tennessee, Texas, and UCLA in the Final Four with the Bruins defeating the Jayhawks. UCLA was pretty sketchy against Texas A&M. I wouldn’t be shocked if Texas and Tennessee didn’t make it. Not that you were wondering, but Old Dominion did not reach the field of 64 this year. However, they are playing Virginia in the rather meaningless CBI tomorrow night!

*Update, 3/24/08: UVA beat ODU by 4. Sean Singletary ruined my night.*
