About
Unfinished is a blog dedicated to music and film. The site is notorious for long stretches between updates. The site is maintained by Hugh Miller, a 2008 graduate of Old Dominion University. Miller resides in Northern Virginia where he rambles incoherently about his hatred for LeBron James. Unfinished accepts submissions, but cannot guarantee a review.
The idea for Unfinished came to me in the summer of 2002. I was preparing to enter my sophomore year in high school and decided to create a magazine called Location Is Everything. By magazine, I mean, a handful of pages printed out on my parents’ printer and stapled together. The two issues of Location Is Everything that were created contained what were my first attempt at writing music reviews. I still feel terrible for convincing someone to send me ten dollars for a “subscription.” I’m quite certain they didn’t get their money’s worth.
After giving up on the idea of a print publication, I moved Location Is Everything online. In November 2003, I purchased my very first domain and renamed the site Unfinished. I was a big Mineral fan at the time. Since then, the site has gone through several makeovers, most of which have been unflattering to some degree. Earlier in 2008, I lost many important files, most notably my 2007 interview with Brian McBride of Stars Of The Lid. In March 2008, I escaped from my evil web host and decided to start fresh.
Since I started Unfinished, I have always aimed to expose artists that have not received the notoriety that they deserve. Although I have made an effort to diversify content in recent years, that is still the main goal. More often than not, I spotlight musicians, but I have written about many films as well. Thank you to all of the artists, labels, and publicists that have submitted their work to Unfinished.
Thanks: Trevor Moore for realizing my artistic limitations and designing a killer banner.
