Ratatat Drop New Single

I learned yesterday afternoon, thanks in part to the latest Aural Exploits newsletter, that Ratatat have a new 7″ single that is out now. Yesterday marked the drop date for “Shiller,” the lead single from Ratatat’s new album, LP3 (in stores on July 8th courtesy of XL). “Shiller” is the first offering of new Ratatat material since 2006’s Classics (a favorite of mine). The interesting thing about the “Shiller” single is that it is accompanied by “Mahalo,” a cut that is, according to the sleeve, “from the forthcoming album: LP4.” Are there two Ratatat albums on the way? The band hasn’t released any definitive information yet. As soon as a tracklisting (and any other information on new Ratatat releases) is released for LP3 , I will be sure to post it here. My copy of “Shiller” should be arriving in the next few days.
*5/12/08: Saul comes through with streams of both of the new songs.
Could you post shiller and/or mahalo when you get the 7″? THANKS
The 7″ came in the mail today, but I am out of town, so I haven’t been able to listen to it. I’m not sure if I have the hookups to digitize it, but I will keep my eyes peeled online (it is bound to be posted somewhere soon) and edit the original post with a link when I find one.
I Bought this Vinyl earlier this week and it arrived at my house today. I really enjoy the two tracks on it, they have a classic ratatat sound with the electronicly altered guitar. I’ve only listened to each once so its hard for me to write a good review of them so soon but like all ratatat im sure it will get better and better the more i listen to it. I do believe that the upcoming album will not live up to Classics but seems to have a slightly altered sound. Shiller has subtle acoustic and a catchy sound. Neither songs offer too much bass though…
Im going to convert it to mp3 as soon as i get a chance too, i need a certain cord to start doing so, anyone who wants it email me- rhcp1213@yahoo.com.
I’ve had time to listen to it a bit more and its actually quite different from Classics, it’s much more relaxed. i like it just the same though.
pretty solid stuff…got shiller and mahalo up at saulsierce.com
the things i do for random fans i dont know… haha.
Thanks for posting those Saul. I edited this post and threw a link up crediting you.
